How it works
We show on the Atlantic Intercollegiate Equestrian League in hunt-seat equitation classes, on the flat and over fences. Horses are provided by the host barn and mounts will be chosen the morning of. Classes are judged based on equitation and ability to ride the horse properly and effectively.
Our show team roster is selected at the beginning of the fall term. You are not required to show if you take lessons. Riders on the team must have provincial or national riders insurance (Equine Canada, OEF, NSEF, etc.).
Here's what you need to bring.
Our show team competes on the Atlantic Intercollegiate Equestrian League circuit. The leagues consists of five Atlantic university teams, Dalhousie University, Saint Mary's University, St. Francis Xavier University, Acadia University and the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus. We have three shows per semester with each school taking turns hosting shows.
The Canadian Collegiate Equestrian Federation was founded in 2019 by a former Ontario Collegiate Equestrian Association president, as well as industry professionals, to create a Canadian Championship for hunter equitation riders within the affiliated leagues. The AIEL will be joining the first championship in 2020.
Classes range from beginner walk-trot to open over fences and everything in between. Whether you are a seasoned show veteran or never shown before, there is a class for you. Our focus is on safety and having fun.
